This started out as a rough for a commission I would finish in watercolor and ink. But I just kept doodling until I had a finished piece, more or less. It was a fun process that was recorded using the recording feature in the Procreate app. This was shared with my patrons on my Patreon page a few months ago.
Thanks to the support of my patrons over on my Patreon page I have launched my creator owned comic SPACE JUNGLE GIRL! If you have followed my blog you have seen SJG pop up from time to time. Her looks may have changed over time but her core story hasn't and now I have a chance to solidify both and share her story. I'm quite excited about it.
If you are interested in following the story and seeing my newest work head over to my Patreon page and join us.
Anyone who has followed me on this blog knows about PERILS ON PLANET X. If you don't, POPX is a series by writer Christopher Mills and myself. It is a swashbuckling sci-fi adventure done in the grand tradition of Flash Gordon and John Carter. It will be available through print on demand very very soon. And to celebrate, I have created a desktop wallpaper of the first issues wraparound cover. You can download it for free at my Patreon page: www.Patreon.com/GeneGonzales
There are more details on that page as well as the download. I hope you enjoy the wallpaper and I hope you will give our series a shot.
As an early Valentines present I am sharing this piece with everyone. If you enjoy it I hope you will share it with others. This was done on my iPad Pro in Procreate.
This is one example of the process videos I share, and make downloadable, on Patreon. If you would like to see more please visit my Patreon page take a look at the different patron tiers on the page and join us.
Even if you don't pick a tier with process videos, you can still see new artwork almost everyday from me and help towards the goal of me posting one of my own comic creations.
On January 30th I launched a Patreon page. If you are not familiar with Patreon, it is a subscription based way for people to support the endeavors of other people. Basically it is a way to become a "Patron of the Arts". And my art in particular. :)
I created the video seen above to explain why I am now on Patreon and what I hope to accomplish. If you have enjoyed what I do on this blog and you enjoy my art, I ask that you check out what I am doing on Patreon. And if you are interested in supporting me there, you will see a number of reward tiers from which to choose. From basic info to art commissions, I tried to make them appealing.
If you are not interested in supporting me on Patreon, no worries. Really. My work will still be showcased here about as frequently as I have been doing lately. And every so often I might give you a peek at what the Patrons are seeing on Patreon as a way to try to entice you again. :)
The link is above, if you have a moment take a look. And if you have any questions about it just shoot me an email or ask in the comments below.
Thank you for all your kind words and support through the years!
